Best Neon Sign is a family-owned sign company serving Chicago, Oak Lawn, the rest of Chicagoland and businesses nationwide. It began as a one-man neon shop in Chicago in 1934. Today we design, fabricate, install and service custom neon, channel letter, LED, monument and illuminated cabinet signs, and more.

Steven Goldzweig, Owner

Steven Goldzweig owns Best Neon Sign. He began working in the family company in 1979 and gained hands-on experience across its departments, from metal and plastics to neon. He later studied at the Institute of Lettering & Design.

A Family Sign Company Since 1934

Best Neon Sign started in Chicago in 1934 as a one-man neon shop. The business was built on quality, dependability, craftsmanship and customer service, and it has stayed in the family for generations.

More than 90 years later the work has moved from hand-bent neon into LED lighting, electronic message centers, modern channel letters and current installation methods. We still build neon, and we still repair and restore it.

Our sales team and art and design department work together on each project. They turn a logo, a drawing, building photos, an existing sign or a rough idea into a finished sign design. We fabricate, install and service signs in-house, so one company stays with your sign for its whole life. Our name goes on every sign we build.

Our office is at 5505 W. 109th St., Second Floor, Oak Lawn, and we install and service signs across Chicagoland and nationwide.

Lou Malnati’s, North Center

In 2015 Best Neon Sign built the roughly 15-foot neon sign over the entrance of Lou Malnati’s at Lincoln and Montrose in North Center. Lou Malnati’s wanted a retro design that recalled the 1950s and ’60s, to match the restaurant’s interior. The sign went up in March 2015, ahead of the restaurant’s opening that May.

In 2022 we put up a second Lou Malnati’s sign, a double-faced pole sign on West Randolph Street.

Chicago Sign Permits Since 2006

City of Chicago building-permit records list Best Neon Sign Co. on more than 750 permits at over 500 Chicago addresses since 2006, nearly all of them sign permits.

Those permits cover signs over entrances, awning signs, channel letters, pole signs, projecting blade signs, wall signs and more across the city. Our gallery shows some of that work, including signs for Giordano’s, Joe’s Live Bar & Music Hall, Kincade’s and Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar.

Warranty & Maintenance

Customers without a maintenance program get a 90-day warranty on labor and a one-year warranty on parts.

Maintenance agreements cover all lamps and ballasts and all neon and transformers, with complete annual cleanings and unlimited service calls. We also repair and maintain signs of all types that another company built, on a time-and-material basis, and we repair parking lot lighting.

Licensed, Bonded & Insured

Best Neon Sign is licensed, bonded and insured, and the signs we produce are UL-listed.

Steven follows up very quickly and walked me through the whole process.

I had a very good, easy, experience with Best Neon. Steven is extremely quick to give you an estimated price. I have had my sign for years, and rarely had any problems. If there is a problem to be fixed, Best Neon will come out very quickly to fix it a repair. I've visited many other sign companies and least to say, I give my full trust to Best Neon Company, as they truly know what they're doing.
